The 32nd Annual Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club (MPRRC) 134 mile
Oahu "Perimeter Run " is a documentary that takes place
in 2003. It is the story about the competion between the underdog
team 5 and the current record holders and undefeated Mushroom Track
Club as they battle to break the course record.
Team 5 was going to be called Hawaii Pacific University 3 days
before the race until one of their members was put on medical hold.
A mad scramble to find a seventh runner ensues along with motivation
to field a team that will be competitive.
During the race, the teams must overcome the darkness on the North
Shore, rain, wet trails around Keana Point, day-of-race change of
course route, uncooperative MP's at Nimitz gate, leaving team members
behind, and constant competion.
The Mushroom Track Club team captain is the well known, outstanding
athelete Jonathan Lyau who has recruited another unbeatable team.
Co-captain, editor of Athletes HI sports magazine, and former four-year
# 1 runner from Hawaii Pacific University, Cristian Friis heads
up this teams all star lineup. The other standouts on the team include
Matt Stevens ( four-year state cross-country and track star), Peter
Hursty (# 1 ranked Hawaii triathelete), Clint Iizuka-Sheeley (#
1 local Honolulu marathon finisher and top ultramarathon runner
in Hawaii), Pete Boksanski (top marathon runner and best trail runner
in the state) and Siul Michael (former four-year top runner at Hawaii
Pacific University and road-racing champion).
Can the team 5 match the strength of the Mushroom Track Club? It
will be a battle down to the finish line at Kapolani Park!
